YW Lesson: Our purpose in Life Handouts

I found these boxes, paper, crown cookie cutter, and ribbon all at Hobby Lobby. I am going to put Oriental Tradings Princess Pops, Princess bracelets, and then my own crown shaped sugar cookies in them. You can also buy the pops and bracelets here. https://www.peanutandmagoos.com
I am going to put in the handout "Our purpose in life" with the box. The handout is from Bishop H. Burke's 1979 New Era talk
"A Royal Generation
My dear friends, you are a royal generation. You were preserved to come to the earth in this time for a special purpose. Not just a few of you, but all of you. There are things for each of you to do that no one else can do as well as you. If you do not prepare to do them, they will not be done. Your mission is unique and distinctive for you. Please don’t make another have to take your place. He or she can’t do it as well as you can. If you will let Him, I testify that our Father in Heaven will walk with you through the journey of life and inspire you to know your special purpose here." You can find it on Lds.Org
I love zebra with hot pink and decided I would use it for this lesson~ On top you can buy crown stickers and place them. I had some on there, but since they are copyrighted I am not going to put them on the blog. You can buy these also at Hobby Lobby. you can added shredded hot pink and black paper in the boxes as well! Enjoy

YW lesson: Creating a spiritual enviroment in the Home

My idea is for a handout on Lesson 5: Creating a Spiritual Environment in the Home. I thought it would be cute to make a card saying “There is no place like Home” I found some free house clipart here and colored it in. I added glitter in a form of shoes at the bottom of the house, and used colored paper and ribbon that went with the Wizard of Oz theme. I found the poem "If Jesus came to your house” by Lois Blanchard Eades. I printed the poem on vellum and glued it down, onto I put the house clipart attached to a brad. I made sugar cookies using a shoe cookie cutter that you can buy at any cooking store or hobby lobby. I frosted it in red and added edible glitter/sprinkles on it to make it look like Dorothy Shoes.

I want to talk about what makes a home. I will use the example of the temple. It is clean, it is where we leave worldly matters outside and a place of peace. there is soft music and instruction that will help us in our lives. I also believe that home is a place of peace. A place where we recieve instruction to help us in our lives. I love having good smells of candels and sot music playing in my home. That all sounds perfect right? Well it's not always, all we can do is our best and focus on more important things like the family. I have come to realize that while a clean home is nice, I would rather be playing and teaching my kids to help out. I want to have a bunch of pictures of my family growing up and the family I have now. Sometimes having the spirit in our home isn't just the physical, it's the love that grows inside. The temple can be clean, but if people go there angry and mean the spirit is gone. At home I believe looking out for everyone, letting everyone be themselves and knwoing they will be loved no matter what is what lief is about. I want them to see picutres of my siblings with me and our sense of humor. I think when love abounds, the spirit is there watching, happily.

Sunday was my lesson on "forgiving ourselves" I really wanted the girls to feel the spirit and know that they are loved. Why is it we can see the worth of others so easily, but it's so hard to see our own? I had a lot of positive affirmations on cute paper up on the board "you are more" "you are beautiful," "God allows U Turns," "just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are one" and so on. I started out by reading the definition of Cancer, which is evil, malignant, harmful and fast spreading. I then said that not forgiving ourselves will not kill us off and stop the pain. That this pain can be eternal if we let it. But there is a cure. I went onto talking about toxic shame and negative self talk. I handed them all out some ways to help the shame and talk in our head to turn it into something positive. I gave them a "positive Bin" to put things in when they are feeling down. On top was the 13th article of faith, and the front had a picture I bought at Deseret Book called "Forgiven." The box can be anything from poems to pictures. I then had each of the girls sit in one chair in the front and had everyone write something positive about her on a sticky note. The girls would come up and stick the note on her arm and whisper the positive all at the same time in her ear. The spirit there was strong, and I try to teach based on what would've helped me and hope that they can feel God's love the way I have so much. At the end I talked about Alma and how if he hadn't forgiven himself he wouldn't have been able to do the good in life that he did do. made heart shaped rice crispy treats with sprinkles and chocolate and wrote Alma 32:21 about his "Sweet" joy. I added the song "You are More" by tenth Avenue North in their bins.

For thanksgiving, I am in charge of making a craft for a lot of kids. There are 13 siblings in my mother in laws family and each of them have a lot of kids. Just my mother in law has 8 children, and we all have about 3 kids each! So for 25 bucks I have to come up with a craft for a TON of kids. Here is something I have wanted to make for a long time that I once saw. I decided to try it myself.
